Forever bicycles installation by Ai Weiwei in Taipei

Written by Tom

Dissident Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, which is prohibited from leaving Beijing,  is opening an art exhibit in Taiwan. The Taiwanese exhibit of 21 works includes photographs and 12 outsize bronze heads representing the Chinese zodiac. A new piece created by Ai consists of 1,000 bicycles piled in layers, reflecting his perception of the rapid pace of Chinese social change.

Artist prohibited to leave Beijing is giving orders every day through email how to install pieces of his art. I specially like the political background of this exhibition, because here in Slovakia, we remember how it is to have a state border which you cannot cross.
